2nd August 2014 – The final two days of Athletics action at the Commonwealth Games saw the heats and finals of all four relays.
Christine played a different role on each occasion but made a valuable contribution to the England team finishing third and collecting bronze medals.
In the heat Christine ran the anchor leg and showed all her experience, running very controlled but finishing strong to secure first place in the race and an automatic qualification spot for the final.
The final was contested in appalling conditions as the rain poured down onto the track and on this occasion Christine was given the responsibility of leading the team off. With the long stagger of the 4x400m the first leg is always tough to run but Christine put the England team in contention right from the start and with good support from teammates Shana Cox, Kelly Massey and Anyika Onuora the team finished third behind Jamaica and Bahamas.
The bronze medal awarded was amazingly the sixteenth major medal of Christine’s glittering career.
